Singaporeans in Japan
It was serious of notes and clues that lead me to write my first words about Singaporeans buying property in Japan (published with the good people at Plaza Homes).
At the time I did some consulting on some purchases with buyers from Singapore here in Hokkaido. This was about the same time the exchange rate was really climbing versus the Japanese yen (and as of this post, it is still climbing). Since then, working with Find Hokkaido Agents on their list of books about Japanese real estate; real estate agents here in Japan and in foreign markets will comment about these buyers.
[H]ot money from around the globe, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore, has been flooding into various Japanese asset classes including real estate.
Neo Cheung (from Winning Strategies for Japan Real Estate Investment)
I could cite several other examples, going back for almost 10 years, all of a similar sentiment.
There is another theme I will write about soon that is part of why real estate investors from Singapore are interested in Japan. And how that connects them to the larger body of investment capital from Asian countries more generally.
As always: I am happy to collaborate and to write for publishers that share my interest in these topics.
